Josh Baker is a Master’s student in the Mechanical and Materials Engineering department. He is co-supervised by Dr. Brian Surgenor and Dr. Joshua Marshall. His research focuses on multi-vehicle cooperation to drive over complex obstacles found in offroad environments. This project involves developing a connector and a control system for the robots to distribute the load to drive over an obstacle that would be impossible individually.
Josh previously studied Mechanical Engineering (B.A.Sc.) at Queens University, graduating in 2020. During his undergrad, he worked on various projects, including a virtual traffic light where he learned about Bluetooth connection modules and wireless protocol to wirelessly send and receive signals to and from multiple autonomous robots to act as a traffic control system to improve safety and efficiency.
